We, the women of St. Theresa's Parish, declare that motherhood is a proud profession! In a society which so often mocks and devalues a mother's importance, we strive to lift up the vocation of motherhood to its proper and God-ordained place. Our goal is to nurture this vocation and show support for each other through fellowship, discussion, and prayer in an organized and inviting format. Each time we meet, we seek to transmit an atmosphere of true Christian charity, hospitality, and familiarity.
We welcome all women who seek to love Jesus Christ more fully. We aim to integrate our families and ourselves more completely into the richness of our Roman Catholic faith, a richness that includes our continued growth as women, wives, and mothers.
By coming together in support of our God-given vocation, we wish to share ourselves, our knowledge, and our faith with one another so as to encourage and enlighten one another. As such, we look to the Blessed Mother as a particularly fitting role model-- she who is the most perfect woman, wife, and mother. Therefore, we implore her guidance and protection in a special way.
Finally, we take as our motto the words of Pope John Paul II, "Motherhood is a vocation," words which bestow the proper dignity and responsibility upon mothers. Motherhood is indeed a lifelong vocation, to which God has lovingly called us, and therefore to which we strive to be faithful. This "definition" of motherhood is the one that guides us in our discussions and activities; it is the one that inspires our continuing formation as faithful stewards of the precious gift that God has given to us in our families.
